This explains what our website collects and what we do with it. It is a separate document from our Notice of Privacy Practices, which covers your medical record.
This covers our website only. How we handle your medical record is governed by HIPAA and described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, a separate document you receive as a patient.
This site is a set of static pages. You do not need an account, and we do not ask for personal information to read anything here. Our hosting provider automatically records standard server log data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, date and time — used to operate and secure the site.
If you submit a form, we receive what you enter — typically a name and email — and use it only to reply to you. Forms and email are not secure and must not be used for medical information. To discuss anything clinical, call (805) 557-7050.
This website sets no advertising cookies, uses no advertising pixels, and does not track you across other websites. Because we do not track across sites, we do not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
Why we mention it: on a medical website, the pages you visit can themselves suggest a health condition. If we later add website analytics, we will update this policy first and say exactly what is collected.
Your browser loads fonts and icons from third-party content networks, which may receive your IP address in the process. Our site is hosted by a third-party provider that keeps the server logs described above. Their practices are governed by their own policies.
To operate and secure the website, to reply to messages you send us, to understand in aggregate which pages are useful, and to comply with the law. We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertisers.
Only with service providers who help operate the site, such as our host, and only as needed — or where required by law.
California law gives residents certain rights over personal information, which may include knowing what is collected and requesting deletion. Information in your medical record is governed instead by HIPAA and California's Confidentiality of Medical Information Act, and is covered by our Notice of Privacy Practices.
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
The site is served over an encrypted connection, but no internet transmission is completely secure. This is why we ask you not to send medical information through it.
We may update this policy as the site changes, and will revise the date above. If we begin collecting information in a materially different way, we will say so clearly.
